Becoming Mombie is my weekly documentation of the third trimester of my pregnancy
with my DS (dear son) + a few life updates.
The past weeks were crazy! But everything's back to normal now.
We went through something and we're back with stronger faith. 🙏 And am so thankful to the Lord for His greatest favor. 😊
Plus, the most embarrassing moment (so far) in my OB Clinic happened this weekend. 😯
👨👩👦 Quick Update of the Week
❝ TL;DR: Went to hubby's company Family Day. My mom had a blast. ❞
The last work week of the year was kind of dragging. I was lazy to do more work because of the holiday bug.
Probably the highlight of this week is the Family Day in my hubby's workplace, which happens to be my first and last workplace.
We had fun. Baby was absolutely behaved and active inside my belly. Got to see old friends and bosses.
Mom enjoyed the most, I think. She got her blood pressure and sugar checked. And even got a massage and a free eye checkup. Also bought her a pair of reading glasses as a Christmas gift!
We also had a plant tour where we went inside the building where my hubby worked. Then, there's a flight of steep stairs! Uh-oh. Hubby asked the tour guide if we could use the elevator. Mom and I were permitted to be lifted. Yay! I was kind of nervous that I'll make a show, especially when I had a bloody show the day before.
Yes, I had my 2nd IE and my OB said that I was already 3 cm dilated. But baby was still floating. I was kind of happy, but worried at the same time. Kept telling my baby that he should already lock and load his head on top of my cervix. lol.
The IE kind of hurt a bit. Like a 1.5 out of 10.
Right after my OB I checked my cervix, I stood up to clean up and put my undies back. But, just seconds after I got up, I felt something warm drip down from my lady part.
Uh-oh. It's slowly dripping down my legs! 😱
It was blood. Bright red blood.
I wasn't really bothered since my OB said that I would experience it, but I was kind of embarrassed and it didn't stop for a few minutes. She said it's okay. It's normal, but I can tell my hubby is a bit worried. 🤣
First time to see dripping blood, honey?
Yeah, so luckily the bleeding stopped for a while, but I knew my pantyliner wouldn't hold it that much. So, I asked the hubby to get the last one from my bag and I taped it over the other liner.
After a quick chat with my OB (she said I have a high tolerance for pain), we went out the room na, but the frigging blood is still flowing! I tried my hardest to walk demurely and asked him to buy me nappies.
I didn't know you could bleed a lot from an internal exam, but I googled and I was not alone. :D Okay, honestly, the bleeding sort of filled a pad in just 30 minutes, but will lessen throughout the day. Totally gone the day after!
Well, I was lucky and blessed that I have an OB who tells me what to expect. She said that if I'm still bleeding after 2 days, I should go to the ER.
The other women in the forum that I found weren't informed that bleeding is normal after an IE. Some panicked when they saw blood a few hours after their IE. They immediately went to the ER and they ended up being induced. And when you're induced, there's a HUGE chance that you'd go to emergency CS, especially when it's not yet baby's time to go out.
It's different for others, though. My aunt didn't bleed during an IE with all her 4 kids. Every pregnancy is unique and every body is different. So, don't freak out if something unusual happens. Trust your OB. And do a little research!

❝ TL;DR: Bled out right after my second IE. Don't worry, it's perfectly normal. ❞

How's baby?
Baby got big.
Even my OB noticed.
The week before that, my doctor would tell me that baby is still small and the ultrasound says so. His size is one week smaller than it's supposed too. That got me a bit worried.
But this week, my doctor advised me to stop taking Obimin, my vitamins because baby kind of inflated a bit.
Mom used to tell me that he thinks baby is growing because "I'm eating the delish food she's prepping for a full week."
I shrugged it off, thinking that she's just joking, but I was pushed to believe towards the end of the week when I felt that baby is stuffing my belly and that there's little space left.
My OB's advice validated everything.

Baby's Milestones at Week 37
According to the Ovia app:
- Strong reflexes
- Baby's probably crowded by now that the big kicks only have spaces to make little jabs
- Sense light to turn toward a bright light if shined at uterus
- Weighs 2.7 kg this week
- Nerve connections are building now
- Eyes already have a color
How's mommy?
I'm feeling pretty strong this week.
Maybe because my OB said that I have a strong tolerance for pain. Or maybe because other mothers were surprised that I was still going to my hubby's company event even at 3 cm dilated. (Confinement is recommended at 4cm). Or maybe because I need to be strong for my baby.
Excitement is building up too! I'm praying for a healthy normal delivery. We already decided to get an epidural for the pain. My OB recommended it, saying honestly, that it's for the mothers, not the baby.
I went for one because I want to be an active participant in my birthing process. My OB said that if mothers can't take the pain, she usually sedates them. Sedation has the same effect on the baby, making it difficult for the doctors to monitor him.
And I hate the feeling of being sedated! Experienced it when I was confined for less than 24 hours when I was 30 weeks along.
Anyway, I'll do a separate post for the epidural decision.

How's daddy?
Daddy is chill this week, trying to catch up with all of his tasks. Gotta finish them before the Christmas break!
That's all for Becoming Mombie this week!
Will baby already come out next week? Let's see!
