Becoming Mombie — Week 29

Sunday, October 22, 2017

Becoming Mombie is my weekly documentation of the third trimester of my pregnancy
with my DS (dear son) + a few life updates.

Oh boy, can you imagine having a pineapple inside your belly?

Minus the spiky crowns and the thorny eyes, of course. A squirming pineapple that pokes your belly at least 40% of the time.

Well, that's me this week!

We're hitting 7 months right now and we're entering the third trimester officially. Wohoo! The final stretch.

  Quick Update of the Week

This week, we went to Baguio for our close friends' wedding. And I am the Matron of Honor!

Sharing some family pics.

 How's baby?

The hubby and I were conditioning baby J a few months before we hit the road trip.

We were telling him that we're going to Baguio and that he needs to stay put inside my tummy like the good boy that he is.

He was good all throughout the trip, thankfully.

He kept on moving during the entire wedding ceremony. The evening following the wedding. And the next day when we were about to go home.

He's pretty active all the time—and I'm a proud mombie.

  Baby's Milestones at Week 29

I wasn't really able to read my Ovia app this week because: a.) We only had a 2-day workday this week and b.) We had a bunch of errands to finish on top of that.

So, I only had the chance to read all about Week 29 developments right now and I'm sharing it with you here.

  • He's about 16 inches and weighs 3 pounds
  • Muscles and lungs are continuing to mature
  • He's about to pack on some serious pounds in the coming weeks
  • Less forceful, but regular kicks
  • Eyes are completely in place
  • He's repeatedly moving his diaphragm to practice his breathing
  • He's lowering himself down the birth canal  (Guess he's readying to be born!)

 How's mommy?

Well, I was not exhausted from the trip. Hooray!

I even had the energy to go out to enjoy the cool night weather after the wedding. I missed walking the streets of Baguio, so I didn't let the moment pass.

I was able to stay there for like 3 months before graduating college. Had my OJT in Texas Instruments.

Although the trip was generally A-okay, I had some mortifying moments that I thought I was already going into labor. Lol, I was overreacting.

But my stomach got upset (as my other friends and one preggy friend did too). Maybe it was something that we have eaten?

But for me and my new preggy friend, I think it's more of indigestion. We're almost on the same weeks too and Ovia (the pregnancy app) says that I should expect constipation or heartburn because:

  • My body is releasing hormones that relax my muscle tissues in preparation for delivering baby
  • Digestion is also slowing down for delivery
  • Baby is taking a lot of room, pushing my organs up
  • And I just had 2 dosages of steroids

My OB also told me that I would be experiencing acid refluxes because of this. And yes, I did.

So anyway, back to the horror upset stomach story.

I was a bit worried of my body not withdrawing wastes yet (sorry, TMI). So, I tried the morning before we drive back home.

I was successful, but I don't know why my stomach hurt too. I was wishing for my consciousness not to leave my body. Haha. And I seriously wondered if I am already going into labor.

The good thing, though, I got over it and everything was okay again. But, my stomach started to hurt again before we eat lunch. I didn't get to drink a milkshake from 50's Diner because of that.

But, I ate cherry ice cream for dessert.

❝ TL;DR: I almost thought I was going into labor, but it was just a bad case of an upset stomach. Phew. ❞

 How's daddy?

Daddy was the one who drove us to Baguio.

Our car, Arya is the official wedding car. It's also her first long drive.

On our way home though, the husband got stricken with a bad case of migraine. Good thing we had a friend with us who can take over with the driving.

That's all for Becoming Mombie this week!

Looking forward to a slow week. I have to make up for the lost work hours.
