Becoming Mombie — Week 32

Sunday, November 12, 2017

Becoming Mombie is my weekly documentation of the third trimester of my pregnancy
with my DS (dear son) + a few life updates.

Given my freelancing lifestyle, this week has been an eventful one.

By that, I mean a Friday visit from my college friends and a tiring (but happy) Saturday that's full of shopping.

Baby, who is now the size of a Florida Pomelo, was thrilled of what's happening too because he kept on moving inside my tummy during those times.

🏬 Quick Update of the Week

❝ TL;DR: My college friends visited me. They bought dinner, gifts, and good conversations. We also went baby shopping (online + mall) for the first time ever! ❞

Workweek proceeded as usual. I had my first product call, wherein I get to present and defend an initiative from our department managers. It went pretty smooth.

Come Friday, my college friend (together with her husband and 1-year old son) went to visit me at home. But, upon their arrival, I noticed them bringing 8 cups of beverages, so I asked why. She blurted out that others were coming.

Oh so, it's a surprise visit. Haha. I only expected the 3 of them that night and I was only psychologically prepared to face them. Lol.

And our apartment is pretty small that it can prolly only comfortably accommodate 5 people at most. But that's okay.

We had fun catching up. Talked about my pregnancy and babies and OB's and baby products. The men talked about driving. Lol. One friend asked why didn't I bloat up so much. And why didn't my neck turned darker. She's just annoying me. Lels, but I'm lucky I didn't get the "pamamaga".

It seems like nothing has changed and we're back to college, only there's this little human playing with the candles and eating his spaghetti with his bare hands. This is babyyyyyy's future playmate! I imagine we'll have of play dates on the weekend in the near future.

So, they went home a 10 and left me with a bunch of gifts for my baby. Hooray! First set of gifts for baby J!

The following day, we went shopping and we almost completed the D-Day Hospital Bag Checklist and then some. I had fun, but our go-to mall only has a few options, it was quite disappointing.

Tada! It's all blue. The nursing pillow, yellow bootie, receiving blanky, and the Mickey Mouse buttoned up tops are gifts. The Pampers is from Lazada and it only costs Php226!

Technically, our first baby shopping was online. I shopped for baby bottles when they were on sale and I think I saved some cash. SM was selling it for Php400 more.

Anyway, the only additional stuff that I bought was the bigkis, for baby's bellybutton. Friends and families were commenting on my pic and messaging me of other essentials like baby pins. I still have much to learn!

Also, I haven't finalized the list of the other baby stuff like strollers and car seats, but am working on it. We only have a few weeks left and I want to get everything ready soon.

For mommy, we bought a brand new keyboard (because my life is falling apart) and Palmer's Tummy Butter because stretch marks were developing so fast. 😨 Gotta review these two things soon!

 How's baby?

Baby is becoming more and more responsive, a whole lot stronger, and bigger.

When I sleep on my side these days and get up, I always end up with a stuck baby on my side. I'd tell him, "Go to the center na, baby." It doesn't happen before.

And one morning, I ended up with a huge bump just under my ribs and when I stood up, I can feel my lungs being pushed up. It hurt a bit, like a 0.10 out of 10. So, I'd caress him and request for him to move a little bit lower.

I think he understands.

      Baby's Milestones at Week 32

    According to the Ovia app:

    • Swimming like a little fishy in my tummy, but running out of space
    • Sucks at his thumb, preparing for breastfeeding
    • Weighs about 1.8 kg, spans about 18 inches
    • Full set of fingernails and toenails
    • Keeps lowering himself into the birthing position
    • Keeps on putting weight
    • Developing brain cells and connections
    • Bones are fully developed, getting harder and more stable
    • Almost at birth height
    • Still putting on fat
    • Tends to keep his eyes open

     How's mommy?

Mommy is feeling the pressure on her belly. Like it's about to explode. The skin near my bellybutton is stretching that it has become too sensitive to touch.

Sometimes, I can strongly feel the flowing blood all throughout my body. Ovia says I have 50% more blood now and my heart is doing more work than it usually does.

My growing womb is also applying pressure to my bladded and the app warns, unexpected pee can trickle down, but thank the heavens it didn't happen... so far.

Contractions also are about to increase in length, frequency, and intensity. But I am totally clueless about these. I can't feel y contractions, so I don't know if that's a good thing or a bad thing.

It also says that I should pay attention to my body by this time, but I'm depending on babyyyyy's movements. That's how I can tell that we're okay. When he doesn't move, I'd poke him here and there until he responds. Hehe. I can never be too sure.

     How's daddy?

He's happy and excited that I get to share the housework this week. Lol, kidding.

He's too happy during our shopping that I can just like put everything in the basket and he wouldn't question it. Usually, we'd have a talk on what things to buy, consider the price, and we both decide if it's a go or no go.

He's Ilokano. Haha. Ilokanos are known to be thrifty, but they are in fact, generous people who know their priorities and are smart with their money. My husband would also prefer the more expensive, but quality items that last longer. I got that from him. Before, I would never buy Havianas, but I bought one because of him. And I haven't bought a new one for like 2+ years. I was wishing it would break, but it didn't.

Anyway, with baby's stuff, I can like get away with everything.

That's all for Becoming Mombie this week.

Next week, we're heading to Alabang to get Arya, our car, checked. We're also dropping by ATC maybe to buy other baby stuff like baby's bag. And Ima buy some journals for next year! Kinda excited. 😁
