Becoming Mombie is my weekly documentation of the third trimester of my pregnancy
with my DS (dear son) + a few life updates.
Okay, so I was saying that I have a smooth pregnancy. We even went to Baguio last week and I was able to go up and down Session Road and be the Maid of Honor. But week 30 has a few major bumps.
Major because I got admitted to the hospital yesterday. 😷💉💊
🏩 Sort of Long Update of the Week
Here's what happened.
We went to Robinson's Mall near us to get my SSS claim. (Will be sharing how you can process your SSS claim if you're a Filipino freelancer soon).
I wasn't feeling sick or anything. It was quick. Hubby dropped me off the house because he has to go back to the office.

I wasn't feeling sick or anything. It was quick. Hubby dropped me off the house because he has to go back to the office.
Before heading home, I bought miswa noodles (my favorite and first soup as a baby), tomatoes, and bread. Was planning to cook sardines with miswa that night.
When I was home, I went to the CR and saw a bit of blood in my undies. 😱
I wanted to freak out, but I told myself to stay calm. I called my hubby and told him to drive back because we're going to the hospital.
I'm going to do the updates in bullets so I won't bore you. Lol.
💉I'm not panicking because there was no pain and I can feel babyyyy moving. He actually was moving the whole day, so I think we're good. That assured me that he's okay.
💉 Went to the emergency room. Have to explain what happened. Plus tell them that I'm constipated for almost a week now. The resident OB Gyne called my OB Gyne to inform her and ask for advice on what to do with me.
💉 Skipped IE (Thank the heavens! That's why I love my OB. I feel so comfortable with her ways). I just needed to do the following:
💉 We passed the first two exams! Babyyyyy was okay. Amniotic fluid is sufficient. Baby's in cephalic position (head down position). Wohoo, getting ready for the outside world, baby love? My cervix is closed (yassss!). I also learned, by listening to the conversation of the 3 OB Gyne's who looked at my TVS results, that we have different cervix shapes. It was a 3-tier consultation, starting with the youngest MD.
💉 For the NST, I had to be delivered to the Delivery Room via wheelchair. I was kind of excited to go there to see how it looks and to see the actual place where I'll be giving birth. I thought of it as a prep up for me and baby.

Ouchie! IV insertion mark. And bruises. I always get a bruise from needle stings. |
💉 I was placed in the Operating Room and saw the delivery bed of horror. It was like something from the movie Saw. A stainless steel bed (I assume), with two pedestals for the legs and a hole in the middle where a piece of wide rubber runs down all through the garbage bag. I suppose it's for the blood and all the other bodily fluids that will be excreted during the birthing.
💉 We started the NST and unfortunately, the machine was saying that I was having contractions, 3 to be exact, in between approximately 9 minutes. The first one was moderate that the eyes of one SI (Special Intern?) widened. *eye roll smiley* Uhhmm, y'all I can't feel it. I don't know if I'm having contractions or not. #FirstTimeMomProblems
💉 That's a cause for concern, said the resident and declared that I should be admitted. She said she has to call my OB to ask for her opinion too. Huh? But I was feeling A-Okay. Can you just discharge me? My house is so lapit. I'll just go back here if I'm "feeling more contractions." Of course, these are just my thoughts. I said, "Okay, if that's the case, I just need to talk to my husband so we can plan." But, really, I was thinking they were overreacting. lols.
💉 It was long before I got to talk to my husband. I was ready to sneak out, standing up to go out of the Delivery to take a peek, when the resident doctor saw me and said, "Ooops, San ka pupunta? Jan ka lang?" (Hey, where are you going? Just stay put.) Blushing, I said, "Okay po." and went to sit down on my wheelchair.
💉 While waiting, I listened to the cries of pregnancy, but there was none. Okay, so the movies were overdoing it. The moms who were giving birth are actually silently agonizing, I think. I can hear no screams! Except for one "Di ko na kaya!" in the morning. To which the doctors replied, "Kayanin mo, mommy." And "Hingang malalim. Stop. 1, 2, 3, 4, .... , 10" in chorus. Lol.
💉 All I can hear were babies crying. 💕 I'd smile, knowing that it's their first cry in this world. Looking forward to hearing my son's first cry too!
💉 Finally, I get to talk and see the hubby. Yahoo! I wanted to tell him to steal me out of that place because I was already thinking how will I spend the next days in the hospital doing nothing, but lie down? But of course, I didn't. He and the resident OB discussed and my admission was made official. Made a quick call to my mother who freaked out the moment I told her that I was in the hospital. Geez, mom. lol.
💉 So, yes, I was admitted. They did a second NST and found NO contractions. I wanna scream, "I told you so!!!" Hahaha, kidding. I was just relieved. I was also tlaking to babyyyy, updating him of our situation. I think he complies to my requests. Though they found no more contractions, the resident doctor was concerned of babyyyy's spiking hearbeat rates (I'm hearing 180 hbpm) 💓. And I'm hearing the word, "sedate".
💉 I need to be sedated, okay. There was this Intern who was questioning me my life story (basically) then the resident doctor told her to quit na so I could rest. The baby's a bit stressed and I need to sleep. They didn't use the term, but they told me that the meds that they'll be giving me will allow me to rest. Hah, I heard you already noh. I didn't mind, if it's for babyyyy I'll do it. But after just 10 seconds of inserting it to my IV and injecting the rest on my arm, I felt so heavyyyyyyyyyyyy. And I dropped the decision to fight against it and just went with the flow. Til I drifted to sleep with the Ramone's I Wanna Be Sedated playing in my head.
💉 I had no concept of time when they transferred me to Labor Room 2. There was no watch! I continued with the meds, had the NST the last time, and have the same intern slash reporter be with me. I sort of preferred the two SI's who were quirky and talkative. The intern was just so stiff and she forcefully pushes the detector into my belly when the heartbeat detection weakens on the NST. Geez, my bladder almost exploded and I told her she's pushing too hard. She said she needs to do it because the heartbeat is fading. I think you need to move it just a bit, girl, not push it harder in. Ugh. But of course, I'm nice. I'm nice all the time.
💉She's just doing her job, but not so magnificently, I suppose. And she was the one who puts the urinal below my butt because you had to urinate while lying down when you're admitted and diagnosed with threatened preterm labor. I was uncomfortable in doing it for the first time, but got used to it for the next hours. Oh, thank heavens I did yoga before. You need to lift your hip so the urinal can be safely tucked underneath and effectively catch your urine. I was worried of my urine leaking to the bed. It would be embarrassing.
💉The resident doctor also told me that I could eat na! My OB gave her the clearance since there's no contractions na. So they texted my husband to go get my breakfast. I was expecting to see him, but only a pack of McDo greeted me on the waiting area. McDo! I was thinking he would buy me canteen food. (I love the hospital canteen food since they're yummy and healthy). So there I was, a hungry pregnant mother who didn't get to eat dinner. I engorged everything in just 15 minutes, I think. Didn't care if I'm naked inside my hospital robe and there were other people in there. Haha. I just want my morning pan de sal and hash brown and orange juice.
💉It was already 10 in the morning, I think, when they brought a mom who has just given birth beside my bed. It was pregnancy season and the Delivery Room was packed. She started a conversation with me. And she's just... 19. She asked me how old I was. I told her 30. And of course, I'm expecting for her to feel that I'm too old for my first baby. Haha. Of course, she's just 19. But for my batch (my friends, at least), 30 is the new 19. There's a lot of us having our first baby at 30.
💉So the third NST revealed that I'm having... NO more contractions! But the SOP is
NO contractions in 24 hours = Clearance
💉Oh no! Does it mean that I still have to stay until Sunday morning? Well, guess what. My beloved OB told the resident that yes, I can go home!!! Weheee! That's why I love my OB. She visited me in the morning too. No idea what hour that is, but I was happt to see her.
💉 The discharge papers took a while to process. But whatever, I'm feeling excited to go home na. I get to see my husband (I missed him, huhuhu, I felt sad for leaving him all on his own for a night. I can feel sadness faster these days.)
💉Babyyyy and I were finally out. And we're together again as a family. In the house. And it's eat. Sleep. Internet. Repeat.
The moral of my story?
Don't get too pressured if you cannot poop, mommy. Even if it's already a week.
I felt stressed out because of my constipation and I think the constant returning to the CR and sitting and pushing (a bit) made that blood come out.
The OB didn't seem to be bothered by my constipation that lasted for a week. I think it's normal on some occasions. I shouldn't have pushed it. I should have waited. We shouldn't have spent much. Yeah, we were in De La Salle University Hospital. So I get the top notch quality of care (even the 19-year old told me na alagang-alaga ka dito, ate ah). And I also get to pay premium. Haha.
But that's okay. It's all for babyyyy and I get to prep up for the actual pregnancy. I think it's also a blessing in disguise. I get a feel of the pregnancy process. I was also thinking that the Lord was teaching me to be more patient and focus on the things that matter more.
The past few weeks, I was ecstatic of topping my previous monthly income and I was about to hit my ideal income this month. Only to give up a 20% of it for this less than 24 hours of stay in the hospital.
So yeah, I think Big Guy is teaching me to take it slow and focus on what matters the most. And not to push too hard, literally and figuratively. 😉

Finally out and ready to go home. But first, an ice cold taho from kuya over there. |
❝ TL;DR: Got admitted to the hospital because of contractions, but contractions stopped after a couple of hours. Baby and mommy are both safe 😊 ❞
How's baby?
Babyyyy is 💪.
I'm super happy that he is active all the time and that we have passed our first test together: the hospital admission.
This week, when my mom called me, she started talking to babyyyy. And babyyyy was moving all the time, sending waves to my tummy.
I think he is pretty responsive, especially to mommyla.

Baby's Milestones at Week 29
I already had a long weekly update, so I'm making these sections quick. 😉
- Recognizes your voice
- Baby hiccups, which will feel like tickles
- Gaining half a pound per week until the birthday
- Immune systems keeps on improving
- Baby's neck is already flexible that he can turn his head!
💡Trivia: Baby won't be able to cry "sad tears" until about 2-4 months. Tears are just for keeping the eyes clean and healthy. After that though, they're for getting your maximum sympathy.
How's mommy?
Well, according to the Ovia app
Good news: CR success! But I still took meds for it. 30 ml of Lactulose as recommended by my OB.
- Start experiencing constipation around this week until the baby arrives (That explains it. 😠)
- Fatigue or extra bursts of energy (I think it's the latter with me)
- Stay active to get rid of swelling (But not applicable to me as of the moment)
- Increase in Braxton-Hicks contractions (I think that's what I had)

How's daddy?
Daddy was adorable.
He was in the hospital all the time after all!
I thought he went home because I told him to so that he can get his rest. But, he just got a couple of our things and went to the hospital, thinking we're going to stay there for a while.
We talked about not having to communicate for a while and how ugly it was. Lol. And he said he was at McDonald's eating when the nurses told her to grab breakfast for us. That's why my breaky came in quick.
Yeah, so we talked about the events and tried to match our respective timetable of events.
He's the sweetest and I feel so blessed.
Household chores and everything — all his, for now at least.
P.S. Haven't re-read or edited this post yet so sorry for the grammar mistakes!

That's Freelancing Mombie's most challenging week so far.
Looking for better things ahead!
